Netcom deregulation of voice and SMS is the continuation of a trend, says analyst.

Netcom announced yesterday that they drop to charge for voice and SMS in the private market. They will make it easy for customers.

From now on, people just decide how much data they need. On average user Netcom customers 550 MB a month, but there are large variations. iPad users are up to 2 GB and Vodafone boss think this will grow quickly.

– We believe the average customer will spend 5 GB in 2017, but it is possible there may be more. It is this development that is important. We do not believe that the use of voice and SMS will increase much even if we do it for free in the Nordic countries, says August Baumann.

Baumann think customers will appreciate the simplicity, but Vodafone will also try to lure those who still have landline.

They pay like 159 dollars and the price they receive only one unit in Norway included. Netcom will tempt you with SMS and 200 MB data per month for 199 dollars.

monthly

– This is a trend that has been going on for a long time. Most telephone companies have some form of fixed today, but this is almost a kind of monthly, says analyst at Norwegian Telecom, Tore Aarønæs.

He does not voice and SMS will explode even though this is an all you can eat service.

– Mobile operators know all about us and our ring pattern. Moreover, both voice and SMS very few resources. There is data traffic costs. In the long run, it takes over VoIP voice traffic, he said.

not turned on competitors

Aarønæs think Netcom’s new offer is about making customers more loyal. There will be less attractive to look for cheaper call deals.

In other countries, the telecommunications companies willing to cut across quite large branches by offering VoIP even to maintain the customer relationship. The threat to traffic theft is very large and growing.

– This does not Netcom to be nice. This is a defense to the case to prevent customers dancing with others. Now it’s about keeping people away all the little Robin Hood-one that could threaten the rest of the business model. It is not surprising that telecommunication companies adapt to reality and protect themselves from competitors, he said.

– Fresh

– We see that Netcom makes a radical simplification of its offer, and it’s made fresh. At the same time the a danger that they go too far does not cover all customer needs. Our research shows that there are few who need unlimited voice and messaging and we are keen to maintain a more diverse offerings, said Telenor Norway, Anders Krokan.

He says Telenor constantly working to improve the offer, but what it will mean for the customer in turn he will come back to.
