Pieces that controls Apple’s popular products contain technology that others have a patent on, believes an American jury. It can cost IT giant expensive

The ruling, which could lead to an additional expense of several hundred million dollars for the company, arrived Tuesday. It is a research foundation in Wisconsin who has sued the company because they believe their patented technology to improve efficiency in microprocessors illegally built into Apple A7 chip in 1998. Four researchers at the University of Wisconsin have developed the appropriate technology.

Now that the jury has given plaintiffs upheld the principle, the case over to the next phase where liability and the amount of any payment to be determined.

Among Apple products that should be part of patent breach iPhone 5S, iPad Air and iPad Mini with so-called retina.

Apple did not want to comment on the matter told AFP.
