The EV manufacturer Tesla has taken a major step towards autopilot for cars this month. New Tesla Model S can automatically change file, regulating speed and braking.
While Driving characteristics, previously limited to cars teknologiganter which Google has tested out, came on the road with the latest Tesla Version 7.0 software earlier this month.
The property was added to thousands of such cars that already were on the road by an upgrade of the software in the car. In summer it was already sold 80,000 such sedans worldwide.
The Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF) has tested function (see video above). Andreas Handeland, the driver in the video, working with consumer tests in NAF, and is an experienced biltester.

– Could Save Lives
– This is the future. Whether we like it or not. There are some exciting now is that Tesla gives this opportunity to all who own newer models. One need not go back a yard or equivalent to graduate. The software is downloaded automatically and you can choose whether you want to take it into use, communication manager at NAF, Inger Elisabeth Sagedal, told ABC News.
In recent years, several upgrades for cars pointed in the direction of “self drive ». Adaptive cruisecontroll, lane assist and emergency braking system are examples of electronic aids which in recent years has been involved in assisting the driver.
– Tesla is innovative, and here they are at the forefront of something we know will: Self-propelled cars . This can be important for road safety, and an important step towards “Vision Zero”. It is Norway’s vision for zero serious injuries and fatalities. When these cars come fully will be able to save lives, says Sagedal.
– Many other automakers are working on the same type of technology, but Tesla is completely in front.
Autopilot system in new Tesla activated by nibbling on a lever behind the wheel. Then gases, brakes and steer the car on your own. This is a preliminary version, and NAF emphasizes in its press release: “One feels quite so fast that the car is far from intelligent, and the system can not currently replace the alert driver.”

– You are responsible
Version 7.0 of the software was launched at the weekend and a number of Norwegian registered Tesla now has an “autopilot” available in the car’s menu.
– The challenge in Norway’s roads ours. Self-propelled vehicles are not yet dependent on good roads with distinct stripes. It is nearly all roads have it in Norway now. Something else interesting is the legal responsibility. The beta version is no doubt that the driver still are responsible, also using self-driving function, says Sagedal.
“No matter how good and effective technology to work are you leading responsible. It also applies if the autopilot technology fail and an accident occurs. Vienna con- ventions from 1968 states that the driver is responsible for the car anyway, and it applies even if current technologies were not relevant at the time.
Road Traffic Act §3 also requires diligence in traffic. It reads as follows: Everyone shall show consideration and be alert and cautious so as to prevent damage or risk and so that other traffic is not unduly obstructed or disturbed. Wayfarers must also show respect to those who are living or staying at the road, “writes NAF.
– In this early stage, we want to be extremely careful and asks drivers keep their hands on the wheel just in case, said Tesla’s founder and chief, Elon Musk, at the launch of the new feature earlier this month.
– In the longer term, people will not need to have your hands on the wheel, and eventually there will be neither steering wheel or pedals .

Parker himself
The autopilot enables Model S control within a file, change file and adjust speed with “traffic awareness” cruise control.
The car can also scan for free parking, alert drivers when it finds one, and since parallel park on command.
A year ago began the US automaker to equip Model S with radar, cameras, ultrasonic sensors and other hardware to gradually inntrodusere even drive properties.
But the new software has its limitations. It may still not recognize traffic lights, for example.
At the company’s website writes Tesla that “cars that really runs all by itself is still a few years away.”
