Norwegian small businesses no chance to retain their high-tech secrets, believes Roger Johnsen, Director of Norwegian center for information security, after PST Wednesday pointed out Russia and China as the biggest threats on the Internet.
He calls for a stronger national responsibility to ensure Norwegian technology against online theft.
– I do not think we can trust that common antivirus take this, then, says Johnsen.
Resource Strong opponents
when police security service point at which nations are most eager to infiltrate Norwegian interests of Internet- Russia and China – should not businesses and governments believe that the data their systems are secure .
– The nations that are mentioned in his report PST has considerable resources. This is both university resources to develop competence, it is government bodies to organize it and directing it against what it is they want to achieve.
– Looking for Norwegian technology
Johnsen think Russia and China among others are looking to steal advanced Norwegian technology. He thinks Norwegian companies are not able to protect themselves against.
– Norwegian businesses are mainly small businesses without either IT manager or any security officer who themselves are able to handle this here. So this is one thing I think we need to try to deal with as a nation, he said.
Johnsen sits in police strategy selection for handling cybercrime and will go on to get more agencies to cooperate.
– I think especially a collaboration between industry and the police, and perhaps other authorities responsible for cyber security in Norway, will be a prerequisite for being able to handle such a widespread and serious problem that we face here.
