(Dagbladet) If you’re driving on the roads in Canada in the summer you can come to spot a small robot with yellow rubber boots, blue tights and hitchhiking thumb.
There are Hitchbot, a robot departing urge, and a collaboration between professionals from several Canadian universities with professorships in communications, multimedia, electronics and data.
27. July was the little robot roadside in Halifax, on the outer coast of Canada, with hitchhiking thumbs up.
The goal is for it to hitch a ride across Canada and eventually end up in Victoria on the west coast, around 620 milfra starting point.
Halfway
The first twelve days of the little rascal process seems to have gone fine, we believe the messages and the images it records on Twitter and Facebook.
The robot is equipped with 3G and GPS, and update their diligent followers. Already have it covered about half of the planned distance. So far it has met both dogs and children and been a guest at the Indian party and a Canadian festival.

Hitchbot also take photos, but manners and ask first, assures creators its because it can talk and is supposed to be a pleasant companion.
Social Experiment
The creators of Hitchbot see him as an experiment in social robotics, about people, and robots interact,
– It depends on empathy and social cooperation to succeed, explains researcher Harris Smith from McMaster University to the Canadian newspaper Toronto Star.
