Next Windows is still several months away - Hardware.no

Despite that machine builders get it already.

a month ago told Microsoft’s Windows chief Tami Rell that the next version of the operating system, named Windows 8.1, would be done about these days.

Now it namely immediately available to all OEM partners, ie hardware manufacturers, so that they have time to test and adapt the drivers before the final release to consumers. Exactly when the final and actual launch will take place is not yet known, but a number of sources should now have it that there are still several months until people get hold of Windows 8.1.


Mid-October

There are probably many hearts looked forward to the launch, including the anticipation of getting back a version of the Start button – which has been part of Windows in the past 18 years.

Now it’s apparently just the finishing touch that remains at Microsoft, according to several sources ZDNet talked to. Sources at Microsoft as The Verge has been in contact with confirming the same.

ZDNet best sources put the date of such release in mid-October. Thus, the new revitalization of Windows this time only a year after the last time, rather than the three years it took to come up with something new for Windows 7
