government has spent a million dollars to develop a social app for fathers on paternity leave. To date, only 1767 fathers enrolled, and more think the app is not working. But equality minister not agree that the app is a failure.
– Nearly 1800 profiles when there have been July and public holiday, is good. Pappatid was launched on 9 July and many businesses and people were in the resort. This is probably one reason that not more people have downloaded the app so far. We expect it will pick up now that summer vacation is almost over for most people, says children and Equality Inga Marte Thorkildsen (SV).
aim of the app is that fathers should get in touch with each other and socialize, engage in activities together and exchange experiences.
– This is a project that needs time to settle. Leading up to Christmas is the goal that we have an app that is adequate, with activities that lie inside near where you are. We expect that there will be huge flow of users of the app as it from time to time, new fathers on leave, said Thorkildsen.
– Final offer to fathers
– Does the app proved to be worth the price?
– We can say more about when it’s been longer. It is important to remember that this is a free service to dads who requested and who will live in the future. We wanted to use professional developers so this was a good product.
The minister pointed out that both toddlers fathers and public health nurses have helped the development of Dad app.
– There has been a demand from including clinics for a good deal to the freshly baked fathers. The mothers had offered postnatal groups, and now has clinics finally something to offer freshly baked fathers. Many nurses believe that fathers need to now have not been well enough attended to, says Thorkildsen.
Hoping for more users
“Good idea, but lousy app,” “useless,” “poorly conceived” and “worthless” are characteristics that recur in user evaluations of the app.
– Is the planned improvements to the app?
– In the autumn, we will focus on spreading the app further and the goal is that all fathers who go out on leave know that there’s an offer. Various institutions and health centers across the country are invited to use, and inform about the new app.
When Aftenposten tested Daddy app appeared only up two activities in Oslo. “Hey, here I am,” says a message. The second invites hacking at his home while switching to suit each other’s children. An offer that is unlikely to tempt many.
application has had a bad start, according to app expert.
– My impression is that the app is rarely used, and of the few, and it looked like that has not gotten a good start, says journalist at mobilen.no, Vegard Haugen.
