This summer, you can go to the famous playwright Henrik Ibsen’s footsteps. With a new application, you can guide yourself through several routes in Skien center.
Project Silje Honningdal is pleased with the response so far.
– There are just under 150 people who have downloaded the app. There are a lot of Norwegians, but also people from the US, Asia and Latin America, says an enthusiastic Honningdal.
The project manager says that the application is still in its infancy, but that the preliminary feedback is good.
– There are many who have guests now holiday that showcases and refreshes in history knowledge.
More technology
Outreach coordinator at Telemark Museum Kristine Hermansen, believes the new offer is a minimum.
– This is so to speak a basic service that should be found everywhere. I think the facilitator for those who initially did not go to the museum, she said.
Henrik Ibsen museum situated on Venstøp, and where jobs Anders Berg as a tour guide. He says there has been an influx of visitors, and hope there will be more technological aids forward.
– It would have been cool with that kind of VR glasses that could be showing how Skien looked like before, he laughs.
Berg adds that he thinks the app will draw more tourists to the museum in the future.
– There has been a lot of people here in the summer, and I think this may be a key to draw even more people. It’s fun for both children and adults.
Do not assume for the guides
Honningdal do not think technology will prevail for the traditional the guides.
– This is just a bonus offer. We focus still plenty of events and tours related to Ibsen, and they are still well attended, says Honningdal.
Maria Bjørnsrud is from Skien, but has lived out of town for a while. Now she has moved back and would love to teach her daughter Thale (4) more about the local history.
– I have not tried the app yet, but I’m going to try. I think it might be a good way to teach my daughter about my hometown, she said.
