Through another company’s credit card information for 96,000 Coop customers were stolen in a cyber attack, according to the food supply chain in a press release.
The Irish company operates Loyaltybuild service Coop Hotellkupp that provides chain customers access to discounted hotel stays in Europe.
There are customers who were members of the service, which have been stolen card information.
There is no question about their own credit cards belonging to the service, but common cards that customers have given in to take advantage of the offers.
Advises almost one month later
Loyaltybuild were subjected to computer attack 18 October.
Company shall have discovered hacking one week after the attack took place. First, tonight is Coop’s customers informed.

Paus says that they do not currently know of any of the thousands of Norwegian credit card has been misused.
– But I would recommend being a little extra careful and check your credit card bill well. If you find anything suspicious, some unknown strain, one must contact your credit card issuer right away, she says.
Paus also says that customers do not need to fear economic losses due to theft.
– If someone is being charged by these hackers, or those who have obtained thanks to this information, it is not the responsibility of the customer. The customer will have covered it, she says.
Several hundred thousand in Europe
scandal does not just Norway. The newspaper Expressen writes on its website that at least 143,000 Swedish Coop customers have been stolen credit card information datainnbruddet.

Irish Times writes that two Irish banks have seen “evidence” that credit card information has been misused.
