Today is the most important milestone in the crossover segment in seven years, according to Nissan. In 2007, Nissan released a model crossover pioneer who was sold for 2 million customers, and that was soon followed by a host of others. Now comes the next generation of the popular model.
With Nissan’s trademark innovation and excitement at its core is new Qashqai unveiled in London, to signal the start of a new generasjonn crossovers. A small but important proportion Qashqai owners from around the world (about 5,000) sent in images that represent the best in technology innovation. These images were the basis for the design of the new Qashqai, and today was the final design revealed.
Nissan appeal to drivers in the C-segment who want more style, technology and excitement, but also to customers who want a small car with greater efficiency.
New Qashqai will reinforce Nissan’s leadership position in the crossover market when it goes on sale in selected markets around the world in February 2014.
New Qashqai is 49 mm longer than the current model, and it is slightly lower and wider to give the car a sleek and clear design, while retaining crossover style with compact size and elevated driving position.
Launch Committee includes four engines, two petrol engines and two diesel engines with optional two-or four-wheel drive:
• 1.2 DIG-T 115 hp (85 kW)
• 1.6 DIG-T 150 hp (110 kW)
• 1.5 dCi 110 hp (81 kW)
• 1.6 dCi 130 hp (96 kW)
Customers can also choose manual or the all new Xtronic automatic transmission. The new Xtronic gearbox developed specifically for the new generation Qashqai and is available with the 1.6 dCi engine.
