Tried to squeeze the municipality for money on behalf of Microsoft. - BergensAvisen

Bergen, with its approximately 17 000 employees, one of Microsoft’s largest customers in Norway. Last spring they were picked for a license review of the software firm.

They should check whether the number of users of the software nearly matched the number of licenses municipality had. Thus, the municipality paid what they were going for the use of softwares?

Little did the municipality how long this would take. And the windmills they had to fight it, just to avoid unjust claims for additional payment of millions of dollars, writing site digi.no.

– ERROR METHOD

War took nine months. IT Director at Bergen Kjertil Aarhus says Deloitte came with a methodology and a way to count on that did not fit at all.

This is the same firm that performs audits of Bergen, it turns out to be auditing and corporate control.

– One of the main problems was that they are very concerned with how many employees we have, says IT director Kjetil Aarhus in Bergen to digi.no.

HAD ALL THE CARE

Deloitte concluded that Bergen owed a eight million dollars, only the Office licenses. Wrong, it turned out in the end. The municipality had all the care.

Deloitte auditors are responsible for auditing and corporate control in Bergen for the period 2012 to 2015.

– I am unfamiliar with the work Deloitte has done for Microsoft, so I can not say anything about this on the spur of the moment, says the head of the control Thor Brekke Flat (Ap).

expect them clean up

Finance Commissioner Liv Røssland (FRP) is responsible for the procurement and IT in the municipality. She points out that the revision of the municipality lies with the city council and the control sample.

– But I think this case makes this problematic, and I expect that the control takes a meeting with Deloitte about this, says Røssland.

Deloitte has large audit projects in the community going now. Røssland also expect Deloitte, on its own initiative, take action.

– I expect that Deloitte tidying up and that we are compensated for the extra costs we have had to process them on Microsoft licenses. I can not see why it has happened must be hard to live with Deloitte, both against Bergen and against Microsoft as customers. Deloitte must restore confidence, what has happened is directly doing ok, quit Røssland.

Frode Vik, communications director at Deloitte, would not comment on the matter to digi.no.

– Deloitte is not in a double role. This is not a question of independence. We are already in dialogue with the Secretariat. We can not otherwise comment on the content of individual missions, says Vik to BA.

– But Life Røssland also says that you should clean up and compensate the municipality for the financial burden you gave the municipality in connection with the contract for Microsoft?

– There I choose not to comment, said Vik.
