The MoU that the Norwegian development company Idex signed a “global partner in the market for mobile communication” 12 March – see article New Partnership for Idex – is now completed, tells a jubilant acting CEO Ralph Bernstein.

– Now we have put in place an agreement with a global partner in mobile, he says to digi.no. – This is a fantastic big milestone for us.

He’re unable to say who the partner is, nor the details of the agreement.

– We turned quickly when it became known that Apple would buy AuthenTec, because we figured that it would make fingerprint readers for mobile phones to a large market. We are now, with technology adapted to a future mass market. Not many Norwegian companies is part of great things in the consumer market. This is very funny too in a national context.

An important point of Bernstein is that the agreement involves recognition of Idex ‘patents and intellectual property rights.

– We now have peace of mind that Idex’ Products are well protected. It is also the result of the work we have done with our patent portfolio.

in 2007 ended a lawsuit between Idex and then Upek with a settlement and cross-licensing agreement.

– Under this agreement, we rights of any of the UPEK technology and vice versa. Cross Licensing was acquired by AuthenTec when they bought Upek, and Apple when they bought AuthenTec. This is confirmed by Apple, and gives us confidence for our rights. The Economic between us and Upek was settled in the settlement, so there is no question of payments from Apple to Idex. The point is the international recognition of our rights and our technology, says Bernstein.
