– It is firstly a sad scenario that we have arrested several people in a terrorsak against others, and so must the judicial process take its course. But basically there is no problem with extradition to Italy, says Solberg said.
Krekar has been charged in Italy for terrorist planning. Now he can be extradited if the court says yes to the request from the Italian authorities. Solberg does not preclude the dispatch, which she characterizes as fine.
– Is the fine
– I know the contents of the agreement too small to make an assessment of whether this can be the case that gets Krekar from Norway. It must judicial authorities do. But if this means Krekar leaving Norway, then it’s fine, says Prime Minister Erna Solberg (H) to TV2.
– First and foremost, we will cooperate in efforts to combat terrorist attacks wherever it is, but in a country that we are allied with, that can be even more important that we work well together, says Solberg said.
Arrested in prison
Krekar was on Thursday arrested in prison and on Friday, Oslo District Court to decide on extradition issue. The first time the Norwegian immigration authorities resolved to expel Krekar, was in 2003.
– I think it’s important that we get carried extradition decision that has been made long ago. But this is a slightly different matter, since it is about to hand over to a criminal in another country, not to send him back to Iraq, clarifies Solberg.
– Important cooperation
– First and foremost, we will cooperate in efforts to combat terrorist attacks wherever it is, but in a country that we are allied with it the more important that we work well together, says Solberg.
She emphasizes that cooperation with allied countries is important in the fight against terrorism, after PST assisted the Italian authorities with the arrest of Mullah Krekar on Thursday.
