Pirate Indent the Althing - Computerworld

Comon.dk writes that the Icelandic parliamentary provides entry for the Pirate Party. The party got 5.1 percent of the vote in elections that were held on the weekend. This means that Iceland is the first country in the world where a pirate party won seats in the national parliament.

Party has only been around for a few months – founded in November 2012 by Birgitta Jónsdóttir, who also previously been investigated by the FBI for Wikileaks connections.

Pirate Party in Iceland has won three seats in the Althing, and say they will use their influence to fight for freedom of expression and transparency.

founder of the first Pirate Party, Rick Falkvinge, writes in a post to TorrentFreak that the election is a milestone for the pirate movement.
