Einar Stenvold, chief physician at the Children’s Clinic at Oslo University Hospital – Rikshospitalet, says there is significant difference between Norway on the one hand and Sweden and Denmark on the other when it comes to getting funded research. He and his colleagues have received money from the Swedish and Danish children’s cancer fund among other study tours, and they collaborate with Nordic colleagues on research projects.
In Norway, the Norwegian Cancer Society a very important source of funding for research on cancer, but superior feel it is difficult to get support from here.
Press Officer Erik Vigander Cancer Society says it is difficult to make studies of childhood cancer in Norway, because it affects so few. He also notes that the association supports research in several cancers affecting children as well as adults. (© NTB)
