One of last year's top Android phones have shrunk - Dagbladet.no

DINSIDE.NO: Smart Mobile manufacturers have realized that not everyone will have big screen. In recent years, therefore increasing numbers released mini versions of their top models, and we can mention HTC One Mini and Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini.

Also LG plunged on trend with the LG G2 Mini.

It’s short, compact version of their flagship G2, which we regard as one of last year’s top Android phones.

Mini version has admittedly not as hefty specs: On the inside For example, a weaker 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and only 1 GB of RAM.

Not exactly small screen

G2 Mini also has a 4.7 inch screen, compared with 5 inch screen with big brother G2. The resolution is unfortunately much lower in G2 Mini – it is qHD, ie 960 x 540 pixels compared to 1080p resolution with big brother (four times as many pixels).

Everything is not letdown.

G2 Mini has the same great design, is made of plastic and has a slightly different backing with a rough surface that makes it feel like a cheap phone. It is nearly a millimeter thicker than the big brother, but is quite easy and comfortable to hold.

Front page consists almost entirely of the screen, and on the back we find the unique key solution LG launched with G2. We find it a bit odd, since the company said this was designed specifically to make a great phone easier to handle, and G2 Mini actually needs it.

Latest Android

The user experience on G2 Mini is otherwise the same as the top model. A middle-mobile running the latest version of Android, which is not always the case for phones in this category.

Susanne Persson, Nordic Product Specialist for mobiles LG Electronics, says the DinSide that all smart phones they launch this year, will come with Android 04.04. I lowered namely system for phones in the latest version of the mobile operating system, which makes it easier for manufacturers to put it also in the cheaper models.

Cool and safe unlocking

LG has made a number of tweaks to the user interface and added some own software too. We will certainly never tired of complaining that it can be much “bloatware”, and it is also the case here.

Some of the unique features is quite handsome.

G2 Mini include “knockon” feature we remember from G2, where the user activates the screen by pressing it twice. But it also comes with an enhanced version of this called “Knock Code,” which allows you to unlock your phone by touching different areas of the screen in a certain order.

It is easy to set up and works well well in practice. Without button on the front is a great way to unlock the phone without having to pick it up from the table, for example. Knock Code comes to other LG phones in the near future, and you see how the function works here.

4G mobile to 2500 million

G2 Mini has also a battery 2.440mAh. There are marketable, but we’ll come back to the battery when we get the phone to test. LG promises himself that battery time will be very good. 4G is also supported, by the way.

Although LG has not gone the same way as Sony did with its Xperia Z1 Compact, we are left with a good first impression G2 Mini. No, it is not as hefty as G2, but then it’s also about a thousand lobe cheaper. LG says they hope to reach an even wider audience, not only in the price sensitive markets, but also in countries like Norway.

LG G2 Mini will begin shipping during the second quarter of this year, and will have a suggested retail price of 2,490 dollars, get DinSide lit.
