Norway nominate Rjukan-Notodden to the UNESCO World Heritage List - The Nation

“The cities are testimony to the transformation of society that took place in the western world at the beginning of the 1900s. Norway’s nature, which is rich in waterfalls, was a competitive advantage in their efforts to establish the new power-intensive industry. Industry Adventure

– Industrial Towns Rjukan and Notodden are good examples of cultural heritage from earlier periods in Norwegian history. Viking History

nomination “Vikingarv” consists of ship burials in Vestfold (Borrehaugene in Horten, Oseberghaugen in Tønsberg and Sandefjord Gokstadhaugen) and millstone quarries in Hyllestad in Sogn og Fjordane.

– Many people associate Norway with the Viking Age. At the same time this part of our history closely entwined with the development of European history. This verdensarvnominasjonen is a good example of this, says Sundtoft.
