This is the most popular Android versions - Amobil.no

See how many people have got the latest version.

Google has just arrived with their monthly list of the versions of Android that is installed on mobile phones worldwide.

Very many users of Android mobiles are committed to always have the latest Android version available. This means not only new features of the phone, but also in many cases the phone gets faster.

Since very many manufacturers add their own menus and customizations on top of the standard Android, there must often much customization and testing before manufacturers can launch the latest Android versions of their phones. Often also ends manufacturers to offer new versions of older or low-cost handsets, with the result that some phones will remain on the old Android versions.

Only 1.1 percent have the latest version

The latest version of Android right now, version 4.4 KitKat. This version is, however, yet to very few handsets, and according to Google’s statistics, only 1.1 percent of the phones on the market that are driving this. The first phone that got KitKat was Google’s own Nexus 5 phone manufactured by LG. During the recent past, however the LG confirmed that they will come with Android 4.4 on LG G2 during the first quarter of next year, and HTC has already begun the rollout of some of their unlocked HTC One models – as far as we know not yet here in Norway. Samsung has not said anything about Android 4.4 on their phones.

By far the most popular version of Android right now is Android 4.1.x with 37.4 percent. Turns comparing all Jelly Bean versions, ie Android 4.1 to 4.3, we end at 54.5 percent. This is an increase of 2.4 percentage points from November.

There are still very many phones out there, 24.1 percent, which runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. Much of the reason for this is that many older phones do not have good enough hardware to be upgraded, or that the manufacturer no longer prioritize these models.
