[Teknofil.no] Google X Lab have created a prototype smart lenses which among other things can be used to measure glucose level in your tears, reports TechCrunch.
On Google’s official blog says the company motivation for developing such a product is that many people have been diagnosed diatebes. In fact, state that one of the 19 people on the planet have the disease, and that those who have the daily struggle to keep their blood sugar under control.
Scientists have already found out that they can test glucose levels in tears, but until now it has been difficult to make such measurements. Few of us can cry on command. Now Google X Lab tests out their smart lenses, which contains a sensor to analyze the glucose level in tears once per second. Should there be too high, the LED light get your eyeeplet to “shine”. The latter is certainly the plan.
“There is still much work to be done to transfer this technology to a system that people can use. We will not do this alone: ??we will look for partners who are experts in taking such products on the market. These partners will use our technology for a smart lens and develop apps that make the measurements available to the user and their doctor, “writes project manager Brian Otis and Babak Parviz Google blog.
“We have always said we are looking for projects that seem lit speculative or weird, and at a time when the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) has declared that the world is” losing the battle “against diabetes, we think this project was worth a try, “they write on.
