Should we believe the well-known blogger Paul Thurrott, we get a new version of Microsoft’s Windows operating system in April of 2015. And it seems that the IT giant will retain the Windows 8 name, so jump directly to Windows 9 instead.
version will in all likelihood get its infancy during the upcoming Build 2014 conference in April, and will be codenamed “Threshold.” However, it is expected that release an upgrade of the current Windows 8.1 during the annual gathering.
Windows 8.1 flops
Although Microsoft will return the missing start button in its new update of Windows 8 in April, the company will avoid Windows 8 name when the next major operating system update coming in 2015.
Thurrot alleges that Microsoft is not satisfied with the performance of the sales of the latest version of the operating system, then 8.1 version only applied to around 25 million computers.
Therefore, the company will in all likelihood drop the Windows 8 name in favor of Windows 9 The company needs to find a better balance to complement the needs of over one billion traditional PCs, while it is user friendly for new products, claims blogger.
New “Metro” version
One of the changes that will come in Windows 9 is a version 2.0 of the graphical user interface, formerly known as “Metro”. What that means specifically is it premature to say anything about that, but after what Thurrott experience shall inter alia be possible to run applications from Microsoft Store windows on the desktop.
It will probably come in all three different versions of Windows 9 before the final version evidently released next year.
