Are something I love, it’s old maps. I can still drive from Oslo to St Helier for descriptions Kna old “Route Books” which both featured routes for bus companies across the country, and suggested routes for private motorists.
takes longer yes, but you also detects much more – than if you are just driving by GPS.
That’s why I’m so fond of the new maps too, because I know they get old after not very long, but it’s not the only reason why I want NAF new Veibok welcome. Actually it should have been released last year, but not least is that they wanted it out digitally at the same time helped to slow it all.
larger and clearer
But now it’s here, the issue as it is called, the last’re not in the mailbox at NAF members until March. And although the previous stems from 2010, the well not older than that most users immediately see that progress has been made with the new.
has increased, and thus the maps become clearer. The division has been differently away with byseksjonen and road section. Now it is all divided so that 19 counties and 428 municipalities are presented – not just the roads that go there, but also with suggestions (often on the legs) and nature and festival information and cultural heritage reviews even greater extent than before.
How this works in practice, I’m excited to check out. Actually, I’m perhaps not be too pompous terms of user benefits, in fact I have not yet completely ceased to yearn for the section that was practiced by Veibokredaktør Erling Welle-Strand – and then we are back to the early 70s. All “modernization” afterwards has confused me a bit.
KNA was only
Which of course brings me onto the literary part of this monumental work (600 pages, circulation 580,000!). It was KNA that began with maps and route descriptions. Already in his first Yearbooks, from 1912 to 1913 were found such information. NAF published its first Veibok in 1928, four years after the Society was founded.
So fight KNA and NAF about veioppmerksomheten until the war came, and in 1947, as it may not have been performed so many road trips but the urge to daydream was similarly much larger, the two together about the book I have photographed this year along with. This represented 10 Kna Issue and NAF 7
So there was a harmonious co-production until the mid 60′s when KNA for some reason decided to create his own again. I will not claim that this was the last one there, but the 1964 edition is certainly the last one I have.
A few years later came NAF in the new version – the covers were kakaosølvennlig plastic – then one can say that Veibok modern period was started.
Today’s edition, the 30th of NAF, we can safely consider that the introduction to the post-digital period. There is no doubt that you can find everything you want (and very much you simply do not want) online. And today you can bring it all down – no matter where you are and if you use a car or a mobile medium.
But no one will tell me that a description of the sights around the next bend or sparkling suggestions on where you could go since you still have an hour to spare is more valuable and better usable on print than on screen – when you still sitting there , with the whole family in a car.
I think of other words that NAF will be bound forever to make sure that the content is not only updated continuously on the Web, but it also, periodically, be given a life of its own in print.
And while I’m waiting to get used in practice to check burbarheten compared to its predecessors, I can safely say that reading on the couch, this year’s edition the best ever.
