Google has snudd - Telemarksavisa

It was Porsgrunns Dagbladet reported the name change Thursday this week.

Porsgrunn boy Christian S. Ellefsen was tired of that river between Skien and Porsgrunn has been named Skienselva the internet service Google maps.

– This really pissed me, and a while ago I sent a formal complaint to Google, says Christian S. Ellefsen told the newspaper.

A good while later he received a response from Google. They apologized and thanked for having made them aware of the mistake.

OLD DEBATE

Thus the map coated with the name Porsgrunn River all the way to Langbryggene in Skien. It triggered a new spark in a familiar debate that pops up periodically.

– This was really for fun, but it’s important to me that the river called Porsgrunn River in Porsgrunn. The fact that Google has chosen to call the river Porsgrunn River up to Skien, it is their choice, Ellefsen said to NRK Telemark.

CHANGED NAME AGAIN

But Sunday, the river has changed its name again, to Skien River. It was the development manager in Skien municipality, Tor Arnesen, who discovered the change.

If it has come as a result of new complaints, is uncertain.

But what is certain is that the last word has not been said on the matter.
