So good is the new Ipad-one - Aftenposten

Apple launched last night two new iPads, and more Mac news. Ipad Air takes over the baton for Ipad 4, and iPad Mini with Retina display (let’s call it the iPad Mini 2) takes over for Ipad Mini.

For those who already have a newer Ipad it is always a question whether the changes are significant enough that they should upgrade, or whether the money should rather be on the account and the interest rate.

It is first and foremost specifications that set the new Ipad come from their predecessors. All running latest version of iOS 7 and harjevnt the same functionality.

Smaller and lighter Air

specification above shows that Apple has not made any major changes, but some things are still worth noting.

Ipad Air is a half inch narrower than the Ipad 4, two millimeters thinner and a lot lighter. The 183 grams is slimmed away, or the weight of a well-grown smartphone if you will. This is thus clearly a smaller Ipad, although the screen is exactly as great as before. It is feat in itself.

Ipad Mini variants are unchanged in size, and virtually identical to the scales. New Mini has, however, been a far more vigorous display with resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. Resolution is doubled, from 163 to 326 PPI. This makes the new display much sharper.

It is not long since we were from us with excitement over the screen for Google Nexus 7, which has pixel density of 323 PPI. Simply put, display new iPad Mini as sharp. It bodes well.

64 bit processor

We must not of course forget that Apple has equipped its two new iPad with its new system chip A7. This has a dual-core 64 bit processor, which is a good deal faster than previously apple pieces.

Processor speeds for the new Ipad’s are not known, but we know that the iPhone 5S running at 1.3 GHz. We therefore expect that the iPad has roughly the same processor speed.

The processor is 64 bit do not have all practical significance, except that you get some extra features in iLife. It is imidelrtid natural to assume that it will eventually get more software that utilizes the processor.

More intensified’s true, the possibilities that come with Apple M7-piece, as the new iPad. This is easily explained a motion sensor that is always active.

Iphone 5S open this for a number treningsapper, but it’s not exactly appropriate for a tablet. It may still be interesting to see how apputviklere take it.

Mimo

Both new iPad come with support for Mimo over Wi-Fi. This means that there are more antennas send and receive signals, so you get higher data rates. To exploit this, the base station also supports MIMO.

When you sit at home and surfing the net, this is not all the world to say, since speed limits mostly located in the interenttforbindelsen. But when content flows on the internal network can have an impact.

LTE

Worth noting is that the new Ipad-one supports all LTE frequencies we use in Norway. That LTE versions can be used anywhere where there is 4G network available. Predecessors had only support for 4G in the 1800 MHz frequency.

Beyond this, no major differences to track. Although the battery capacity of iPad Air is lower than the iPad 4, Apple provide similar useful lives. It’s probably best to use energy more efficiently to do.

still missing

We had a hope that Apple will equip the new iPad models with the fingerprint reader on the iPhone 5, but this is not the words. It could make it easier to lock up the board, and you could let to enter password in iTunes and the App Store.

Another issue we would like to see is the possibility of multiple user accounts, so it is possible on some Android tablets.

idea is that a tablet like used by several family and the various accounts make it possible for anyone to download their own apps to login with their own Facebook users, and buy apps and other things with their own iCloud accounts.

Other issues we had not been unhappy with the support for memory cards and NFC. But there is nothing to suggest that this is the way to some iOS devices, and it was not something we expected to come this time. These features make the Android or Windows for.

prices

Apple will continue to sell both Ipad Mini variants, but cuts Ipad 4 from the portfolio. Ipad Air is by far the most expensive model, while the iPad 2 goes on sale as a cheaper 9.7 inch variant.

price list below shows Apple’s own prices. Prices will probably vary in different stores.

Ipad Air goes on sale 1 November. Mini iPad 2 goes on sale in November.

Should You Buy?

If you already have a newer Ipad is often not great reasons to go for the new varieties just yet.

Ipad 3 and 4 are after all just as crisp screens, and unless you mind the weight and size of these will do the job quite a while.

Already Ipad Mini is the screen that is the main reason to buy the new one. Although the original Mini does not have the fittest screen on the market, it is not certain that the differences will be seen as monumental. You can, after all, still run the same apps and do pretty much the same with both varaiantene.

photo shows illustrates the difference on the screen of iPad 2 and iPad 3 Ipad 2 has the same resolution as the iPad Mini 1, but so too is the screen bigger. It makes you even easier viewing individual pixels.

conclusion is something that you already have a newer Ipad might be able to save your money for a while. With the exception of the iPad Airs size and Ipad Minis screen is after all not that big changes.

if you’ve an older Ipad or considering your first is the new models worth a look. Then it is useful to keep in mind that there are a number of good options on other platforms.
