Faster Bluetooth – Aftenposten

The specification for version 4.2 of the wireless Bluetooh standard is now official, said the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) in a press release.

Bluetooth 4.2 will be able to offer faster, safer and more stable transfers, which in turn means lower power consumption and improved battery life for our Bluetooth equipped smart gadgets.

There is no doubt that Bluetooth – also known that Bluetooth on loving colloquially – is considered standard technology in tablet and modern mobile phones. These use the like Bluetooth to communicate with everything from flowers sticks watches and ever more clever things.

Not to forget that Bluetooth is a platitude when it comes to wireless audio transmission.

Promotions

There is no doubt that the smart thing Revolution and “Internet of Things” has been in mind at the gang who has worked with the new Bluetooth version.

4.2 comes the new network protocol IPv6 in place, meaning that future smart thing will be able to communicate with the Internet without necessarily going through other devices.

This is good news for us who look forward to fill the house with mains connected technology .

Version 4.2 will also have better encryption and will make it harder to track users without actually being given permission to do so.

Up with steam

With the new version also has Bluetooth gotten up steam when it comes to transfer. With the right hardware to give 4.2 up to 2.5 times as large transfer as previous versions.

In addition, data packet capacity increased by almost ten times, which means more efficient transfers. This again less opportunities for transmission errors and reduces battery consumption.

Some of the news in Bluetooth 4.2 could be made available on several existing units, while this with higher speeds will require new hardware.

– Bluetooth Smart (also known as Bluetooth Low Energy, journ.anm.) is the only technology that can scale in line with the market, giving developers flexibility to be innovative and be the foundation for Internet of Things, argues Mark Powell, CEO Bluetooth SIG.
