- Obama would re-up bed for me – Aftenposten

– I met him last for a couple of weeks ago. “So are you back? I have to re-up bed for you in the Oval room, “joked the president, tells a happy and satisfied Nobel laureate. John O’Keefe two visits with Obama because he first won the Kavli Prize in 2014 and then the Nobel Prize together with Moser pair.

The US-British brain scientist Asked together May Britt and Edvard Moser at the press conference nobeprisvinnerne in medicine in Stockholm today, reports adressa.no.

John O’Keefe and Moser couple are both competitors and partners. The mood at the press conference were certainly good with a lot of fun and laughter.

Active senior

John O’Keefe (75) has no means retired. He is the director of a center in London where one makes use of new methods to reveal the brain’s many secrets.

– Until recently we could make records of only a few brain cells. Now we have technology that can listen to hundreds of thousands of cells, optical or with sophisticated data entry from sensors. It’s very exciting, a new phase in brain research. I am also interested in other parts of the brain and social neuroscience. Humans have cells that respond to facial expressions. In animals we can study cells that are active in social contexts. It is a difficult area, but with new techniques, we have new opportunities.

– How would you describe May-Britt and Edvard Moser and their scientific effort?

– They are brilliant . I knew them when they held doctorate in Oslo with Professor Per Andersen. I noticed them and their passion, intelligence and attitudes. I knew immediately that came to making success. Sometimes you can see in advance what scientists are successful. When they came to learn the techniques in my laboratory, I was just happy to see them. I think I got right in my assumptions.

– You do not have anything against share price with them?

– No, says O’Keefe with a wide smile.

– On the contrary. We have a wonderful relationship that competitor rates and collaborators. Often we study the same. Sometimes we have scientific articles out simultaneously. Right now we operate and writing an article together. We have very good cooperation relationship.

Nobel race

Edvard and and May-Britt Moser has been in Stockholm two days already and will not go home until Saturday next week.

Adresseavisen follow them.

The couple urgency from event to event during the entire stay. Some writing the autographs as popstars and must set up for people sim will be photographed with them.
