Found tone. Taking over operation of 200 servers – digi.no

Retriever offering search in news, media monitoring and analysis will modernize data park.

The project is significant.

550 million indexed articles in over 100 virtual servers and 76 physical servers get new home.

The choice of partner fell on Embriq, which assumes responsibility for the operation and management of Retrievers IT solutions at Nordic level, the next four years.

– First process becomes to move “as is”. The aim is that customers should not notice anything. We have extremely many articles in our systems and customers that are dependent on the news. Everything should be done moved to Easter, says technology director Ole Martin Halden to digi.no.

The parties will not out of the agreement value.

– Embriq was both reasonable price and good at giving us attention. We got a very good tone, which is important. It is not always good days of operation suppliers, says Halden.

Media monitoring company IT platform running today on Linux Debian V servers, which they describe as old technology. The plan is to clean up this and go over to Oracle VM.

Embriq is not among the most famous operation partners, but has worked as IT operating company for power group Hafslund.

– Hafslund owns 88 percent of our shares, and Hafslund is also a customer, but do not constitute more than 25 to 30 percent. Most of the services we provide are in an open market, says CEO Thomas Pettersen Embriq.

Retriever goes right in and become one of their five largest customers, he confirms.

– I can not say the value of the deal, but we convert total around 230 million and this is a significant customer for us. One of the five largest.

Embriq with around 130 employees in Norway has established its own data center in Østfold with fast fiber connections directly to the central Swedish internet node.

The company has invested sharply in recent years, blood red figures in the accounts testify. In the years 2011, 2012 and 2013, they have a total deficit of 89 million.

– We have been fairly anonymous, but there has been a conscious attitude. We have undertaken a formidable commitment through the years and built concepts but also special products for the power sector. 42 utilities are on the customer list, in addition, we provide services for tens of Sweden. The trend is in the right rening and this year we deliver black numbers, says Embriq boss.

Pettersen says they now capitalizes on initial investment and rejoices terribly profitable operation in 2014.

Embriq itself as a medium-sized player in the Nordic market for IT operations. A market with tough competition.

– Basefarm, TeleComputing, 99x, Intility and Evry are among the competition we face. There are many on the leg, he admits.

He also adds:

– Our opinion is that it is important to differentiate themselves. Domain Knowledge and understanding of the process around critical systems is important. Many has a generalist approach to IT operations and that’s not the world anymore. IT becomes an important part of corporate competitiveness. Then you must prove that you have an understanding of their processes. We are very sharpened against transaction heavy and mission-critical solutions, several of our clients are also critical of society, says Thomas Pettersen.
