Microsoft has had a lot of pressure on themselves in the past. After they revealed Xbox One, there has been much focus on the limitations on resale of the game, the requirement to be online and that Microsoft seems to create an entertainment machine, not a game console. Their answer has been “wait until E3.” They put pressure on themselves to convince fans that Xbox One really is a machine for them, and during Monday’s press conference delivered a merchandise.

Open worlds
It all started with a bang. Metal Gear Solid IV: The Phantom Pain was introduced with tremendous pathos, and we saw glimpses of Solid Snake who used their stealth skills in an open world. The game itself was one of the highlights of the conference, but it also sketched up what we can expect from the first wave of games for the new consoles. The keywords are prettier graphics and large open worlds.
This is the first Metal Gear game set in an open world, but it is not the only game series that takes this leap when it crashes onto the new consoles. The Witcher 3 which was shown by CD Projekt Red charms include the ability to wander freely around and explore a vast world. The frenetic zombie slash rising Dead Rising 3 does the same. The new project Sunset Overdrive, and Dragon Age 3, which was showcased at Electronic Arts’ conference a little later in the evening will also benefit from this way of adding up the game.
I love open worlds. That is to say, I love open worlds that are worth exploring. For example, it works very well in games like Fallout: New Vegas and The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. In games like L.A. Noir and Infamous I do not think the open structure has as much to himself. It is therefore easy to make an open world, but it is difficult to fill it with something interesting. At the new consoles enables developers to take advantage of this is awesome, but I’m very curious to see how meaningful it is for instance Metal Gear Solid V and Dead Rising 3
“key words are prettier graphics and large open worlds.”
Store Shooter
It is a kind of universal law that states that if a new console will be a success it must have good shooters. Microsoft has no plans to challenge this rule, the press conference featured a lot of shooting. When Xbox One was first announced in May showed up Call of Duty: Ghost, and this time it was Battlefield 4 and exclusive Titan Fall that were in focus.
As if that was not enough they also lifted the veil of Master Chief, and promised a new Halo game. It was perhaps not very surprising that Master Chief had shown up, but we did not know anything about the game. Then there was a bit lackluster after all.
It was not just Halo that just dangled in front of our noses. Microsoft’s new studio, Black Tusk, is also in something exciting like we did not know what was. We did see a person who under cover of darkness of night rappelled down a building, and it smelled a little secret agent of the game. It will be interesting to follow what’s going on with the project.

bit mysterious was also the view of the D4 to be an episodic murder mystery. Microsoft has already pressed the episodic model to his chest in less games to tablets and mobile, and it would not surprise me if we see the trend jump over to the new Xbox console too.
Some info about the box too
Microsoft’s conference was about the game from start to finish. They dared hardly anything else. It was shown so many games that we barely had time to reflect on what they had seen. Nonetheless, the U.S. software giant to sneak in some information about console too.
Microsoft points disappear, which means that in the future more easily see what you buy actually costs. They also seem to expand gold membership service to include free games and subscription services such as World of Tanks. They also revealed what console should cost in the United States, without really giving us a very good idea of ??what it will cost in Norway.
Xbox One comes with Twitch built into the system so that you can share with your friends spilløyeblikkene, both live and recorded. They will also let you get further drop creative with Project Spark and this looked really interesting. Here you will be able to create their own games, but one wonders what the above is actually possible to make with this. The impression I was left with was very positive. Can the user in an uncomplicated way really make it their own Limbo?
“Microsoft has many exciting and exclusive titles, and there are not too many PlayStation titles I would have missed if I just bought the Xbox One.”
Xbox One or PlayStation 4?
It is difficult to evaluate the Microsoft presented without drawing comparisons to Sony’s commitment. When gelder game selection, I think Xbox One seems to come out of it. They have many exciting and exclusive titles, and there are not too many PlayStation titles I would have missed if I just bought the Xbox.
There has been much focus on consumer rights and here there is a clear difference between the two consoles. Microsoft has made some choices that are popular within the industry, but understandable enough that players are not as excited about. They require you to be online when you play, they will limit your ability to resell games you have purchased, you must pay a subscription fee to play multiplayer games.
Sony has chosen to place as few restrictions as possible on their console. They also said that it will be region free, which will please those of us who import games from abroad. It is still not clear in whether Sony will charge for the multiplayer option, but there is no doubt that Sony is the best out of this “moral” debate.
From a purely personal point of view I do not have many problems with the strategy of Microsoft. My console is always connected to the internet and I never buy used games. Of course you should be able to sell on one of your games to your friend, but I think the way stores like GameStop and Game has institutionalized used game sales are a real problem. This is what the industry wants end. For me, this will not mean as much for choosing console, but if you frequently buy and sell games, or have an unstable network connection so I realize that this will be the determining factors for which machine you’re betting on.

Price and Kinect
price has been announced for both consoles and PlayStation 4 will be 100 dollars cheaper than the Xbox One. It is basically the 600, but it can quickly rise to a thousand patch when consoles ports in Norwegian shops. Xbox One In other words, a relatively expensive console. With Microsoft’s gaming machine comes with Kinect, and it is probably largely the reason for the price difference. Sony’s camera is not included and costs $ 60 as an addition. If you buy it, prices will be more balanced, but are all really interested in having Kinect or PlayStation camera?
Kinect is in many ways what may be the power of Xbox One, but so far have barely enough seen how to use it. When I got to play Ryse was not Kinect support implemented yet, but it should be limited to voice commands and a few simple hand movements. Ryse manufacturer was also very clear that all Kinect functionality would be completely voluntary.

We tried a technology demo at Microsoft who showed a bit of what the new Kinect can do, and this was initially quite impressive. The camera picked up all of our faces to our pulse, and this even though we were three crazy Gamer.no journalists who jumped around and play fighting in front of the console. The question is what it will be used in practice. Ryse is a game that was supposed to lean heavily on the Kinect, but now only have it as an optional feature. Will Kinect only be a product for speedy sports and dance games? I would like to see more people who showed how to exploit this potential.
Conclusion
All in all, I conclude that the Xbox conference was very good. We got to see lots of new games, many of them exclusive to Xbox One. This is what Microsoft had to show to tell the players that it really is the game they want to pursue.
still felt as if the extra missing. We were served a delicious dessert with ice cream, chocolate and plenty of delicious snacks, but the little cherry on top that had made it all perfect was not there. What this should be is hard to say. Maybe they should have had another great game. Maybe they got the effect they had shown more of the Halo game or project to Black Tusk.
“Maybe is not the decisive battle in the console war is not about games, but about consumer rights.”
Cherry absence notwithstanding, it’s a long time since Microsoft delivered a strong E3 conference. Regardless of what Sony showed off must be said that the Xbox One looks like a great console that will offer lots of entertainment.
We are still waiting for more information about the technology in the console, as the impact the so-called “skykraften” really want. It also feels like the more information you get about the two new consoles, the more similar they seem. Personally, I think Microsoft was able to recover after the somewhat unfortunate angle on its first advertising and it has to considered a success.
Nevertheless, it is conceivable that the decisive battle in the console war is not about games, but about consumer rights. What do you think about Xbox conference? Were you convinced by the game selection?
