How will Google make the internet safer - Computerworld

We are in the process of building a new system to remove certain types of data from the internet. The company is building a global database that will contain the image of child abuse. In an effort to stop child pornography, Google is willing to share this database with rival companies. It writes Computerworld Denmark.

– Google engineers are working on a new technology for the first will make it possible for search engines and other online companies to exchange images of children being raped and abused. It writes The Telegraph.

The new database will, if all goes according to plan, be ready within a year. Then it will be possible to tag images as offensive.

After an image is labeled as offensive, for example, child welfare organizations Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), this information will again be divided between search engines and other Internet companies.

– We create a global database of images to help all technology companies to remove these images, wherever they may be. These will then be blocked and reported, said Scott Rubin, a spokesman for Google.

Each image will be labeled as “hashed”, has a unique fingerprint that computers can then recognize and make sure not to show again today.

According to The Telegraph, the fight against images of child abuse online was intensified by political pressure from including David Cameron, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
