Nokia shares aloft after acquisition rumors - Computerworld

Financial Times wrote recently that Nokia was close to being acquired by the Chinese telecom giant Huawei – the world’s third largest smart phone manufacturer by Samsung and Apple. The rumors started after Huawei head of retail units, Richard Yu, in a statement said that Huawei could be the world’s largest smartphone manufacturer.

– We consider the type of acquisition that may have some synergies. But it depends on the willingness of Nokia’s. We keep an open mind. It said Yu told the Financial Times just before he went on stage and showed off Huawei’s latest smartphone.

Yu Rated simultaneously to the newspaper, the smartphone market will be consolidated with three or four leading actors. He also said that Nokia’s Windows Phone platform, Huawei even use some of their phones are “weak” with a small market share.

In the past several media written that matter, even after Huawei Bill Plummer said the company has no specific plans to buy Nokia. Rumour has nevertheless managed to give Nokia wind in its sails.
