There is little danger of you being stung by wasps in the summer - Rakkestad Newspaper

In summer you can enjoy the barbecue and sweets on the terrace – whether at home or at work.

It will in fact only be small populations wasp stings this year, according to new research.

There are researchers from the Norwegian Institute for Nature Research (NINA) that collected the data.

– In May, we observed many wasp queens at work, and this is a sign that there may be little wasp during the summer, says researcher Frode Ødegaard NINA.

When many wasp queens in turn, will be greater competition for bolplasser. The researchers believe, then, that competition leads to it being made smaller trunk than the wasp queens could work in peace.

Ødegaard points out that the size of wasp populations will also be affected by weather conditions in the summer months.

– After a quiet summer it can still be much wasps to fall, if the weather is favorable. Dry and hot weather in the summer will provide more wasps, he concludes.

In Norway we have thirteen species of so-called social wasp stings. These are black and yellow with the famous stripes on the abdomen. (AFP)
