9:44 Microsoft about to buy Nokia - Today it

According to the Wall Street Journal, Microsoft and Nokia made good progress in negotiations on the acquisition of Nokia’s phone business when talks broke down.

The entire collapsed because of money. Both companies make it as good as they wish within the smart phone, and it could not come to a solution both parties could accept.

Still, Nokia’s share price rose by 6.2 percent after trading on the New York Stock Exchange on Wednesday night, writes Bloomberg.

Many have expected that Nokia would be bought by Microsoft. First collected Nokia’s CEO Stephen Elop latest from Microsoft. After a short time as CEO Elop announced that Nokia dumped all other operating systems in favor of Windows Phone on their smartphones. Many have since thought that an acquisition was the next natural step.

Poor match
Microsoft has so far only delivered software for smart phones, and an acquisition of Nokia would mean a new direction for the company. It is probably also a bad match for Microsoft that Nokia’s only significant source of revenue is the sale of affordable handsets in emerging markets.

On the other side sits on many Nokia patents in mobile communication that many companies probably could wish for. Presumably, Microsoft has not been willing to pay enough for them.

Several suitors
the past two weeks there have also been rumors that both Samsung and Chinese Huawei has been interested in buying Nokia. This has been denied by Nokia. Website VR-Zone.com claims that Huawei only interested if Nokia drops Windows Phone in favor of Android.
