Switches between 3G and 4G
reason that Vodafone has decided to wait to release mobile phones loose in the 4G network is that it has worked to ensure the quality and put in place the so-called Circuit Switch Fallback.
4G network is in fact a clean computer networks, which in practice means that you connect to the Internet over 4G, but do not take regular phone calls here.
To make a call, the phone will switch over to 3G network, then switch back to the 4G network when you are done. Data traffic will continue as normal during the conversation, but when that is over the 3G network. It is this solution called Circuit Switch Fallback, and is now in place in Netcom’s network.
Over the next three weeks will NetCom customers get 4G enabled service on their subscriptions, so they need not do anything other than to have a phone that supports 4G. According Netcom covers now 44% of the population with its 4G network.
