Microsoft received massive criticism for their consumer hostile policies around the new next-generation console Xbox One.

Restrictions

When the console was finally launched at the E3 games show last week, was the fact a lot of new restrictions.

You should include not give away used Xbox One games to other people than you’ve had your Xbox Live friends list at least 30 days, and it would thus be impossible both to lend games and selling them into professional actors who accept used games.

console would also require an “intermittent” internet connection, which you should be able to play for 24 hours before you have to contact the server.

In addition, Microsoft would continue regionlås the games, while Sony chose a far more consumer-friendly line with full acceptance for used games, no requirement of internet connection and zero regionlås.

Make turnaround

PR punch on Microsoft has probably been great, and now they have decided to turn the chips.

In a blog post by Don Mattrick, head of Microsoft’s entertainment division, titled “Your feedback matters – Update on Xbox One”, they say that the feedback from the audience has been so clear that they choose to do about it all.

Microsoft has now extended the policies that apply to the Xbox 360, that you can play without internet connection (after initial setup) and both lend and sell disc-based games of your choice. Microsoft also choose to get rid of region locks and guys thus relatively accurate for Sony’s policies.

So time will tell if Microsoft’s PR blunder will impact sales. The One Xbox and Playstation 4 will be launched before Christmas.
