generation many have been waiting for is here.
It is long since Intel has released an important processor as they do now. The weekend went processor giant finally blurred by the new Haswell-top models. Although it may appear that Intel is in a relatively lucrative position, where the nearest competitor processor more or less given up enthusiast market, will launch in a time where the PC market is under pressure.
While its predecessor Ivy Bridge was an improvement of an earlier product, Haswell built from the ground up. It is a new architecture, where each lose little bit of the processor has gone through the design phase again.
We have tested the top model – Intel Core i7 4770K.

New Architecture
The processor has been redesigned does not mean that everything inside has never seen the light of day before. Intel chips today is still a development of an architecture that was developed in the last decade, but so much has now changed that we can call it again.
Intel release a new processor series about once a year. Ivy Bridge, which came last year, was what is called a “tick” generation. The Intel then did was to improve the previous architecture they had made, and then shrink it to a lower manufacturing – 22 nanometers in this case, with 3D transistors.
Haswell’s production technique retained, but the architecture has gotten a real overhaul. Such generational call you a “tock”, and it is these tock-one that offers the greatest benefits.
If you build yourself a desktop machine is initially i5 and i7 series that apply, and it is the i7 series we find top models like the current test candidate, model number 4770k. It has two brothers, respectively 4770 and 4770R. The latter can not purchased resolved, it will only be welded on the main board to the finished machines.
4770 and 4770K is however virtually identical, except for two points. K-one means that the processor is unlocked so you can overclock it. K-model also has a slightly higher core frequency.
far lower power consumption
Intel has had the most focus on the development of Haswell’s power consumption. Every little bit of the processor can be switched off if not in use. It normally occurs when the processor is in sleep mode, so it will use far less power when working on simple tasks.
Low power consumption is primarily important for laptops. Under optimal conditions, you can see three more hours video with Haswell processor under the hood, than you could before. For desktop machines, low power consumption less important, and the Intel Core i7 4770K actually has a slightly higher maximum power consumption than its predecessor.
New graphics solution

Haswell processors also got a new and better graphics solution. The current test model has HD Graphics 4600 integrated a piece that will be chopped sharper than the HD 4000 model that put its predecessor i7 3770K.
what an enthusiast product 4770K is for most not as important with the integrated graphics solution. Need good gaming performance, and have the budget for a processor to 2300 dollars, you should also provide dedicated video card.
Several of the other Haswell processors, however, comes with a much juicier solution, under the names Iris and Iris Pro. These should be powerful enough to power more modern games at high resolution, all on their own. As an example, Intel stated that Bioshock Infinite in full HD resolution to get over 30 FPS. The somewhat weaker graphics solution, Iris, must be content with resolution 1366 x 768 pixels for the entire go around.
You need a new motherboard
A Z87 motherboard from MSI .
Should you buy a new Haswell processor is also dependent on buying a new motherboard. You need namely a brand new socket, LGA 1150. Haswell fits simply in previous motherboards, while it uses a new chipset.
Along with Haswell processor must have a chipset of Intel’s 8-series, such as the Z87. This is the most sharp chipset and provides a lot of functionality and possibility for overclocking. By connectivity we find implemented support for six USB 3.0 ports and six SATA 6 Gbit / s ports.
